Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

Greetings and introduction

Greetings from Gram Vikas Mandal (Gravima) and Welcome to all those who visit our site. Your visit indeed, encourages and contributes to the credibility of the site. With this few words, I would like to bring forward the burden why GRAM VIKAS MANDAL is being set up into existence. I fervently request each and every well thinking person to further analyze the matter and to lend their helping hands in joining us in the movement.

In a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country like India, the main structure of the political system in every civilization from generation to generation depends upon administrative decentralization which becomes democratic decentralization since the enactment of the Constitution Seventy-Third Amendment Act, 1992. Subsequently, the vision of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Indian Nation has been accomplished and democratic decentralization led to political empowerment of rural area which automatically helps in improvement of the attitude and well-being of the villagers. Having completed the 25th years of independence of the sovereign country, the extent of technology and other sciences could be found in the country which enabled Indian youths of high potential and quality to work in abroad. However, rural India was behind the rest of the country even in the silver jubilee year of independence. Even the youths did not realize themselves whether they were at par with other Indians or not. However, in the 50 years after independence, there was a remarkable development in many fields. It is hoped and expected that there shall be a greater and a bigger change of development and progress at the time of attaining 70 years of independence.

Dear friends, much part of the rural areas still beckons joining of hands together and collective utilization of brains together to overcome the present bottleneck in socio-economic development aspect. Collective efforts should now be emphasized upon sustainable livelihood, health care, moral and personality development, leadership quality, environmental issues, appropriate behavior in social participation, plastic free villages, sanitation and hygiene, agriculture technology, entrepreneurship, etc. As necessary compulsion in search of livelihood and by dint of the geographical location of Hill Areas of Manipur in the international border with Myanmar, Puppy plantation has laid its egg and the chicken growth to maturity now.  The Hill Areas of Manipur seems to be good flower garden when the poppy plants are flowering but they are not really flower. The poppy plantation causes multi-faceted harms which spoils the natural fertility of soil, deforestation, moral life of the people and even disturbs the society in all aspects. The other factor for this increasing growth of poppy plantation is the near location of the region to Golden Triangle and inadequate steps of the administration. As the initiative of the government will not be enough to fight this social evil, participation of all like-minded persons are hereby sought so as to fight this harmful cultivation as well as to initiate an innovative alternative for livelihood of the poppy planters. The reason being, alternative arrangement needs to be arranged to enable farmers who are involved in the harmful cultivation to abandon the harmful cultivation. Secondly, the rural youth needs to be equipped with knowledge and talent of entrepreneurship in order to promote sustainable livelihood and management of indigenous products among them. Thirdly, efforts should be taken up to link entrepreneur activity with financial institutions to promote management and thrift. As such, there are several challenging steps to be taken,e.g. afforestation, development of skill and life skills, Tourism industry, Cottage industry, Games & sports, etc. The political unrest in the region is another bottleneck to convert the mindset of the youngsters into the prospective path, so, appropriate steps are required to be taken up in time so as to prepare at least the next generation for change. Therefore, let this tough time be taken as an excellent opportunity to prepare and ensure the rural areas to be the backbone socio-economic growth and educational development of modern Indian civilization. Taking an example of Bengal feminine, it was a horror disaster in one hand and on the other hand it was a positive awakening point of India’s sustained growth for production of food grains.

Ideal Village:

Ideal village is the basic foremost element in the process of developing rural areas as expounded by Father of the Indian Nation. According to Mahatma Gandhiji, “The revival of the village is possible only when it is no more exploited. Industrialization on a mass scale will necessarily lead to passive or active exploitation of the villagers as the problems of competition and marketing come in. Therefore, we have to concentrate on the village being self-contained”. The village administration may be varied from one another based on the community culture and norms. But the centric issue of improvement and progress is one and the same agenda everywhere. The emerging challenges and issues need intervention of well-wishers particularly in the stream of framing the quality of youths to combat social evils and to reform the society with participation of the youths. No society and no country have stable progress without building up the capacity and quality of the youths. Therefore, the synergy in this regard is improving livelihood and creating an avenue of entrepreneurship quality particularly amongst the youths. To activate the youths in the right perspective for achieving the targeted goals, they have to be fit physically and mentally so as to enable their participation in the decision making bodies.

To clear barriers of all these limitations, The Gram Vikas Mandal, having its Registration Office at Saihenjang Village, Tuibong Sub-division, Churachandpur, Manipur state is spearheading its slogan,"Gaon se Vaishavikaran tak" (Globalization from the village)  takes its humble step by upholding the value of 3 Es (Economy, Education and Environment) to achieve its objectives.

        Thanks You
